WelcomeThe City of Alabaster is embarking on an important and exciting project plan to create a new center for our growing city. In keeping with the city’s vision for a vibrant, human-scaled downtown, the concept will be based on the principals of new urbanism, whereby people have the option to live, work, and play in one place. Key elements of this type of place-making include compact developments featuring walkable streets, mixed-uses, human-scaled buildings, and open spaces. Anchoring Alabaster’s new center will be public improvements that will include a new City Hall, Library, and possibly a Recreation Center. These will all be enhanced by vertical mixed use buildings with office/retail at street level and condos above. Townhouses/brownstones and single- family homes will also be a major component of the project. These will be of the highest quality, and will reflect Alabaster’s aspirations for its future. Alabaster has selected the following firms to assist with the development of this project: Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh & Associates (TSW) was recently selected as the planning consultant for the Alabaster City Center. This project will address the planning and development of the new Alabaster City Center. Volkert & Associates, Inc., has been selected as the Engineering firm to handle the development of the new Alabaster City Center. Volkert continues to be ranked as one of the top consulting firms in the United States offering engineering, environmental, program management, and construction services.
